The nucleus is a vital part of the cell and without one a cell will die very quickly. The nucleus is enclosed in a membrane called the nuclear envelope. This membrane has nuclear pores that allow specific materials in and out of the cell. It also encloses the chromatin which holds all the cells chromosomes, the genetic material of the cell. The genetic functions that take place in the nucleus are Replication which allows the nucleus to make exact copies of its DNA, Transcription allows the cell to make RNA working copies of its DNA and In translation the Messenger RNA is used to line up amino acids into a protein molecule (Works Cited Page 2, nucleus, 1&2). Ribosomes are also created inside the nucleus although by way of the nucleolus. It uses mRNA to send out instruction for cell functions and keeps the cell running smoothly.
